Question: what is hotter lava or acid?

Lava is usually hotter, because it is molten rock that comes up from deep under the earth, where it is very hot.
Acid is usually at room temperature, unless you boil it up in a saucepan!

Molten rock wins this one…. However acids can get pretty hot too when they react! Chemical reactions can be exothermic (which means they release heat) or endothermic (they absorb heat) when they happen.
If you added water to a strong acid you would get a very exothermic reaction.. This is why you NEVER add water to the acid, only acid to water!!
