• Question: Do you have to write out the experiment or can you skip that part and get someone else to do it? (if you can consider yourself lucky)

When I do an experiment I must find the relevant SOP for the experiment (standard operating procedure). This tells me how to perform the experiment properly and safely. A lot of the time this has been typed up and kept on a computer by someone else that has done the experiment before me but sometimes I have to write the SOP myself if I’m the first person doing the experiment.

It’s really important to keep good records of all your experiments so we have lab books for writing down what experiment we did, when we did the experiment, what SOP we used and what the results were.
